Hastin Yazhee Height - 12", Width - 8", Depth - 6" seated. One-of-a-kind figure whose head and limbs are sculpted from polymer clay, with a cloth body over a wire armature, and hand painted porcelain eyes. He wears the velvet shirt, culotte pants and boots typical of the Navajos at the turn of the century, and made from original patterns. His earrings and necklace are of heishi and bone. His medicine bag and belt are studded with silver conchas. Hastin Yazhee is a portrait doll based on the photography of Edward Curtis. Hastin Yazee took the silver medal at the 1997 Santa Fe Doll Art competition. |
