Height - 18", Width - 6", Depth - 6". One-of-a-kind figure whose head and limbs are sculpted from polymer clay, with a cloth body over a wire armature, and porcelain eyes. He wears leggings, loin cloth, moccasins and a fur robe typical of the Assiniboin tribe at the turn of the century, made from original patterns. Black Eagle is a portrait doll based on the photography of Edward Curtis. When Curtis approached him about photographing his people, at first Black Eagle refused, but finally he was convinced that photographs would document a way of life that was vanishing. . |
